Dear Scholarship Prep Oceanside Families,

On behalf of our entire staff, we are thrilled to welcome you to the Scholarship Prep Oceanside family for the 2026–2027 school year! Thank you for trusting us with your child's education. We know starting at a new school can bring lots of excitement and lots of questions, so we wanted to share some important information to help your family prepare for a successful start to the school year.

School Dress Code

Our dress code helps create a safe, inclusive learning environment. Scholars should wear a navy or white top with khaki, navy, or blue/black jean bottoms and closed-toe shoes. Each scholar will receive two Scholarship Prep polos from the school. Please avoid leggings, sweatpants, gym clothes, ripped jeans, and non-Scholarship Prep logo sweatshirts. Additional dress code items can be purchased at most major retailers, and Scholarship Prep logo patches are available in the front office (patches are not required for polos). Learn more about the Scholarship Prep dress code at https://scholarshipschools.info/dresscode.

As a reminder, free dress code items will be available for pickup during Meet Your Teacher on August 6 from 3:30–5:30 p.m.

TK Families

We can’t wait to welcome our youngest Scholars to campus. Please remember to spend some time practicing independent restroom skills before the first day of school.

Students should be able to:

  • Use the restroom independently
  • Manage their clothing independently
  • Wash and dry their hands on their own

Please note that our staff is not able to assist with toileting, diaper changes, or changing pull-ups. Helping your child build these important independence skills before school begins will help set them up for a successful start to the year.

Free Breakfast and Lunch

We've got your Scholar covered!

  • Free breakfast is served daily from 7:30–8:15 a.m.
  • Free lunch is provided to every student.
  • Monthly meal menus will be shared through ClassDojo
  • Families are welcome to send lunch from home if they prefer.

Please note:

  • We cannot warm up food brought from home.
  • Food deliveries (DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc.) are not permitted during the school day.

School Supplies

Scholarship Prep is proud to partner with families to provide all the classroom supplies your child will need. Teachers may share optional classroom wish lists during Meet Your Teacher, but donations are never required.

While many families purchase a backpack for their child, Scholarship Prep is here to support you if you need assistance with this or any other back-to-school resource. Please see our Student and Family support page for more details.

Attendance Matters

Strong attendance is one of the greatest predictors of student success. Being at school every day helps students grow academically, socially, and emotionally while building positive relationships with their teachers and classmates.

If your child will be absent, please call the office by 9:00 a.m. at (442) 262-3249. We also offer Independent Study for qualifying extended absences (up to 15 school days). If you have attendance questions, our office team is happy to help.

Arrival & Dismissal

Our doors open each morning at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast, and instruction begins promptly at 8:15 a.m.

Dismissal is at 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 12:15 p.m. on Fridays.

To help us keep every Scholar safe, please follow these arrival and dismissal expectations:

  • If your scholar is in kindergarten, they will be dropped off and picked up at our village, which is in the back. A staff member will get them out of their car and walk them into the village.
  • TK and 1st-8th grade will be dropped off and picked up at the front of the school. A staff member will get them out of their car and guide them to the main campus.
  • Remain in your vehicle during drop-off and pick-up.
  • Students should enter and exit on the passenger side.
  • Pull forward as directed by staff.
  • Drive slowly and avoid using your cell phone while in the car line.
  • Please do not block neighboring driveways or park on the street.
  • Have backpacks and belongings ready before reaching the drop-off zone.

First Day of School Reminder

To ensure a safe and smooth arrival for all Scholars, families will say goodbye at the front gate or at the car drop-off on the first day of school. Our entire team will be outside to warmly welcome students, help them find their classrooms, and make sure they feel safe, supported, and excited as they begin their first day. We know this is a special milestone, and we appreciate your partnership in helping us create a calm and successful start for every child.

PikMyKid

To help ensure a safe and organized dismissal, Scholarship Prep Oceanside uses PikMyKid, our dismissal management system. PikMyKid will begin during the third week of school.

During the first two weeks of school, we will use car name cards to help make dismissal as quick and efficient as possible. Please display your car name card on your dashboard each afternoon so staff can easily identify your scholar and have them ready for pick-up. Car name cards will be provided at Meet Your Teacher.

Before the second week of school, all families will be asked to create a PikMyKid account. Through the app, you'll be able to:

  • Select your child's dismissal plan
  • Make dismissal changes
  • Authorize approved adults to pick up your child
  • Receive dismissal notifications

We will send account setup information before PickMyKid launches, and our team will be available during Meet Your Teacher and throughout the first week of school to assist families with setting up their accounts.

After-School Program

Scholarship Prep, in partnership with the YMCA, offers a free after-school program every school day until 6:00 PM for enrolled students.

To register:

  • Please click this link and follow the steps on this flyer to register your Scholar(s) - one registration form for each student.
  • If you have any questions about the program or need assistance with enrollment, please contact our YMCA Site Director Courtney Smead at casmead@ymcasd.org.

If your child attends the after-school program:

  • Parents and guardians must have their I.D. with them every day for pick-up. Please note that only listed emergency contacts will be allowed to pick up your student.
  • Pick up for Grades 1-8: When you arrive, please park and walk to the white gate on the main campus.
  • Pick up for TK and Kindergarten: When you arrive, please park at the Village and walk to the gate for Village pick-up.

Staying Connected

Communication is one of our top priorities, and ClassDojo is our primary communication platform. We'll help every family get connected to ClassDojo during Meet Your Teacher on Thursday, August 6th.

Through ClassDojo, you can expect:

  • Weekly updates from our team with important announcements, reminders, celebrations, and upcoming events.
  • Messages from your child's teacher regarding academics, classroom activities, and behavior.
  • Monthly lunch menus and other important school information.

Please make sure your phone number and email address are current, so you don't miss any important updates.

Here to Help

We know this was a lot of information, but we hope it answers many of your questions before the school year begins. If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are honored to partner with your family and are committed to making this an amazing first year at Scholarship Prep Oceanside.

We look forward to meeting you at Meet Your Teacher on Thursday, August 6, from 3:30–5:30 p.m., and welcoming your scholar on the first day of school, Monday, August 10.

Thank you for choosing Scholarship Prep Oceanside. Welcome to the Shark family. We are so excited to have your family as part of our community!

Warmly,

Dr. Chris Todd
