The World Came to Oceanside: Scholarship Prep's Spring Performing Arts Showcase Returns

Retrograde II promised to entertain and delivered the world!

Scholarship Prep Oceanside’s 2nd annual spring performing arts showcase returned to the Oceanside Performing Arts Center this month. The theme was Around the World, and our sold-out crowd was transported through Asia, Mexico, the Middle East, the islands, Texas, Georgia, Memphis, and California. Under the direction of dance instructor Mr. Britton, TK through 8th grade Scholars performed routines spanning continents, cultures, and decades, all choreographed and ready in just six weeks.

Mr. Garcia's drumline also took the stage, moving through Bad Bunny and Atlanta anthems in a performance that had the whole room locked in.

What made the night possible wasn't just talent. It was access. At Scholarship Prep Oceanside, dance and drumline are on-campus electives available to every Scholar, free of charge. Students who want more can join after-school programs that extend their practice and deepen their craft.

Retrograde II is a reminder that when young people are given real opportunities to explore the arts, they don't just perform. They lead, they tell stories, and they grow in ways that reach far beyond the stage.
