About Valerie Douglass
Ms. Valerie Douglass was born and raised in Alabama, making her a southerner at heart. After moving to California, Ms. Douglass earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies and her Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University Fullerton. She has been in both the charter and traditional public sector, having taught kindergarten, 4th, 3rd and 1st grade in the Capistrano Unified School District, tutoring scholars K-6 at Apple Tree Learning Center, and kindergarten, 1st/2nd grade combo, and 2nd at Cornerstone Academy Preparatory School. In 2011, Ms. Douglass was awarded Educator of the Year at Cornerstone Academy and was a Fishman Prize Honoree in 2013. Most recently she was an Academic Dean, Dean of School Culture, and Principal at a high performing charter school in San Jose, CA. In 2014, she received her Administrative Credential and in 2015 her Master’s in Education and Instructional Leadership. She completed her leadership training with Building Excellent Schools (LENS), Relay Graduate School of Education's National Principal Academy Fellowship, and the Reach Institute of Instructional Leadership. In 2017 she joined the team at Scholarship Prep as a founding teacher and stepped in as Principal for the 18-19 school year. She strives to ensure that all of the scholars at Scholarship Prep REACH HIGHER and DREAM BIGGER.
